Hurricance Katrina relief show this Friday at Tio Leo's
Author: Big Mickey :: Posted: Wed Sep 21, 2005 6:47 pm GMT
For those that don't know there is a group of local musicians working on a compilation CD to help raise money for the victims of Hurricane Katrina. Recording is underway and the CD will be released soon I am very proud to say that this group is being spearheaded by Jump Jones bass player Johnny G. d'Artenay. The proceeds from this CD will go to helping the victims of the Hurricane. The bands playing this show will be donating their time, as well as their music, for this effort. So far I know that we will play as well as The Freemonts. Your cover charge will help with the cost of completing this CD so that we can get it out there and start raising money. So please come on down and help out. The music starts at 9:00pm with multiple bands. Please join us for this fun and giving evening.

No Firehouse dance Thurs. Sept. 22nd & 29th!
Author: Meeshi :: Posted: Tue Sep 20, 2005 4:10 am GMT
Just a final reminder that the Firehouse main room is booked for the last two Thursdays of September (Sept. 22nd & 29th) for a play by the San Diego Junior Theatre.

But swing students, not to worry, our weekly swing classes will still be held this Thursday the 22nd & next Thursday the 29th in the upstairs dance studio of the Firehouse (7-8p: Int. Lindy, 8-9p: Beg. Lindy) followed by a FREE open practice session for students from 9-10p.

We will resume our regular Firehouse schedule on Thurs. Oct. 6th. Please make a note of these changes.

DISASTER RELIEF FUND...
Author: 2plyswing :: Posted: Thu Sep 15, 2005 11:41 am GMT
Hey everyone -

We donated 2 passes to the Rendezvous for Rusty's Rhythm Club this past Wednesday which helped to raise $3,300 for the AMERICAN RED CROSS - DISASTER RELIEF FUND.

This Saturday we will contribute the profits of the HEP SPOT to add to Rusty's amount for the relief fund.

We will have a donation bucket at the door and will be selling raffle tickets for prizes ($20 for 14 tickets, $2 for 1 ticket).

Prizes are being worked on - if you have anything you want to donate, please contact us.

Let's help add more funds to the relief effort. Grab all your spare change and come to the dance on Saturday...

We'll see you all at the HEP SPOT this weekend.

David Francis DJs the FINAL Firehouse dance of Sept. 2005!
Author: Meeshi :: Posted: Thu Sep 15, 2005 4:16 am GMT
Yup, you heard me right, TONIGHT will be our FINAL Firehouse dance this month. Sadly, the Firehouse main room is booked for the last two Thursdays of September (Sept. 22nd & 29th) due to a play by the San Diego Junior Theatre. Students, don't worry, our swing classes will still be held on the 22nd & 29th in the Firehouse upstairs dance studio from 7-9p, followed by an open practice session for swing students from 9-10p. We will resume our regular Firehouse schedule on Thurs. Oct. 6th. Please make a note of these changes.

With that said, please come out tonight, as we will have a very, very special guest DJ appearance by our very own "Dalai LLAMA of Vintage Swing", David Francis, as he comes out of his self-imposed swing exile to spread the gospel of eternal en-lindy-ment and perfect life bal-ance through good swing music.
